As a New Yorker, I was quite unhappy with John King as our Commissioner of Education and disappointed that he was selected for that position. I was no fan of Arne Duncan either and felt our national union leadership didn't call him out enough on his statements and positions. You are correct when you say the higher up in power, the more removed from the classroom ( most of the time).
